Charitable Purpose

The stated charitable purpose for which the Company is established is “to provide a community centre with associated amenities and services for the people of Belgard in Tallaght, Dublin and its environs that will contribute to a positive community spirit, built on the collective strength of its residents. This will be achieved by developing a centre as a vibrant hub and a safe space that is inclusive and democratic and recognised by the residents as a meeting point, somewhere central common and alive, and the focal point of community activities in the area”.

The following subsidiary objects support the delivery of our stated charitable purpose:

  • We will support our community through positive engagement and collaboration to help bring their needs to life in a real and meaningful way.
  • We will support and listen to the voices of a growing and diverse multi-cultural community and create safe spaces for them to speak and be heard, both online and offline.
  • We will recruit, train and support volunteers to take an active part in our community activities ensuring that the time and expertise they provide is acknowledged, appreciated and adds value to the work we undertake.
  • We will empower our residents to take an active role in improving their community for themselves being a motivator of personal pride and a coming together around shared and common needs.
  • We will position the centre as a welcoming and affordable venue for all-community celebrations, occasions and traditions.
  • We will support our young people by providing them with a safe place to visit; a place that supports the development of new friends, and one which can help them to remain on a positive path, thus contributing to the betterment, health and vitality of our community.

We will promote the centre as a driver of local economic activity being an affordable and convenient place for people to network, meet and share ideas.

CHARITIES GOVERNANCE CODE

As a Registered Irish Charity in receipt of public funds and funds from the public, we continue to enhance and strengthen our level of compliance across all areas of operations. In support of that, we recognize the need to add additional skills to the board in support of our continued development and our goal of being 100% compliance with the Code.
